Remitly Launches a Community Space for Life Across Borders

Communities by Remitly gives people a place to share advice and experiences about sending money, supporting family, and navigating life across countries.

Living across borders has its own unique challenges. You might be building credit in the United States while supporting parents in Mexico, searching for Filipino groceries nearby, planning a move home, or looking for advice from someone who has made a similar move.

Customers have told us they want a place to connect with others who understand these experiences. Much of that knowledge is scattered across social media, group chats, and conversations with friends and family. Communities by Remitly brings it together in a free online space where people can share what they’ve learned, ask questions, and learn from each other.

Remitly serves millions of people who know how to navigate the practical realities of living across countries. Moving money is an important part of their lives, but it’s only part of the story. They’re also building families, careers and communities across borders. Remitly helps them stay financially connected, and Communities by Remitly creates another way for them to support one another.

Communities by Remitly currently features more than 200 topic areas spanning practical questions, professional interests and cultural connections. Examples include:

• U.S. to Philippines: Conversations about life between the two countries, including retirement planning in the Philippines.
• Alto Amazonas: Public Anthropology: Discussions about how people in the Peruvian Amazon understand their histories and shape their futures.
• Tech Startups: A space to exchange ideas and experiences around entrepreneurship and technology.

The community is designed to grow with members. Users can create new categories and topics, and request new features in the Communities by Remitly category. We’ll continue listening to customers and improving the experience based on feedback.

Communities by Remitly is now available in the United States in English and Spanish at communities.remitly.com, or via links from Remitly.com.
