AI is reshaping how work gets done. At Remitly, we are reimagining our job families for the AI era.
Introducing the Knowledge Development Engineer
Remitly is introducing the Knowledge Development Engineer (KDE) – a new role for AI-first builders who direct agents to design, build, and ship solutions, rather than writing code directly. These engineers will join teams across the company including treasury, finance, growth, and data, working alongside Remitly’s established product development functions. Remitly is currently hiring KDEs at multiple levels with room to grow in our US, Vancouver, and London offices.
Fostering the Next Generation of Talent
This summer, Remitly will also open an internship program for AI-first talent. KDE interns will work in small, mentor-led groups — each taking on one of 13 projects across the company and shipping an improvement to a core business process.
For young people preparing to enter an evolving job market, this internship program is a true on-ramp. Interns will gain hands-on experience building with AI on teams whose work impacts millions of Remitly customers around the world.
“We’re building the next generation of AI talent and learning from them at the same time,” said Sebastian Gunningham, CEO, Remitly. “They’ve never done this work the old way, so they show all of us what building AI-first really looks like.”
What’s Next
Remitly is actively hiring Knowledge Development Engineers in our US, Vancouver, and London offices, and welcomes its first AI-first intern cohort this summer.
